Directing

What does a DIRECTOR do?

From the moment you choose your play to the time the audience arrives the director’s journey is unique and often unknown.

This workshop is the chance to increase your confidence and ability to direct coherently. Thankfully every director is different but no matter what the vision, voice or interpretation of a director there are skills that can be sharpened and important questions explored.

As director Peter Brook said, “If you just let a play speak, it may not make a sound.” The goal of a good direction is to help a play be heard by contemporary audiences.

Over this weekend intensive you will :

  • Sharpen your interpretation skills

  • Deepen your options to compose images on stage

  • Explore how we create character and tell stories

  • Do some hands-on directing and receive relevant feedback

  • Come with an imagination , a willingness to learn and lots of questions

Kate Gaul leads this weekend.  Find out more about Kate here.
